Welcome to Percival Woodford.com, a family based English Company that sells pearl jewellery exclusively to the UK.
We are in partnership with one of the largest and most respected pearl farms in Asia who provide us directly with pearl jewellery. Due to this partnership we bypass all associated middlemen and receive our pearls at discounted prices that not even established local pearl dealers receive. This allows us to pass the considerable savings directly onto you, making our prices far lower than those on the UK high street.
We have arranged this website for your usability to allow you to browse our pearls by jewellery type, or pearl type, and provide you with the information you need to make an informed choice when making a purchase. Regardless of whether you eventually buy from us or buy elsewhere we are happy to provide answers to any questions that you have. You can contact us by telephone or email.
Before you begin to browse our jewellery selection please take some time to read the information below and to the right on the different types of pearls that we sell and the pearl grading system we use, both of which have an enormous affect on the price of pearl jewellery.
Pearl Grading
Be aware that 95% of all pearls produced are not of sufficient quality for jewellery purposes. Much of this is crushed and used in skin creams or similar products. If a retailer makes a great claim that they only use the top 5% of the pearl harvest this is because this is the industry standard and does not set them apart from everyone else.
There is no official grading of pearls and subsequently you may find that they differ from retailer to retailer.
The grading that we use for our pearls is one that has been widely adopted across most of the pearl producing countries.
The grades are A, AA or AAA with AAA being the best. Between grades there are also "+s", so you can have A+, A++ and A+++ with +++ being the best. So the poorest quality is A+ and the very best quality is AAA+++. The difference between "+" are minor, the difference between "A" are major.
The pearls that we sell are always and without exception of the AAA class.
